Rebranding Turkey's Image in the World: Official Name 'Turkiye' to Be Used

(Patria) - Turkish authorities have decided to rebrand the country's image in the world, so the name "Turkiye" will be used in official correspondence instead of Turkey. 

"The word 'Turkiye' represents and expresses the culture, civilization and values of the Turkish nation in the best way," the statement said.

TRT also cites examples of the Netherlands, which changed its name to the Netherlands, or Macedonia, which recently became North Macedonia due to a dispute with Greece.

In Turkish, the country is called Turkiye. The country adopted this name after gaining independence from Western occupying powers in 1923.

The vast majority of people in Turkey believe that naming the country according to its local variation makes sense and is in line with the country's goals to determine how others should identify it.

Accordingly, a recently published statement clearly stated that as part of strengthening the "Turkiye" brand, the term "Türkiye" will be used in all types of activities and correspondence, especially in official relations with other states and international institutions and organizations.
