Disappointed veterans return to camp: House of Peoples has failed us

Delegates in the House of Peoples of the FBiH Parliament adopted the Bill on Amendments to the Law on the Rights of Veterans and their Families with 32 votes in favor, seven against, and six abstentions.

This law includes a unified register of veterans, which is one of the three main demands of demobilized veterans who have been protesting for months and gathered again today in front of the Federal Parliament building. The conclusion that the unified register should be published within ninety days of the Law coming into force was not adopted, nor was the conclusion on the veteran's allowance, which is also one of the veterans' demands.

Disappointed veterans say they will remain in front of the government building and will decide on their next steps in the camp.

- We feel betrayed, the House of Peoples has done nothing for us. We are disappointed and are now returning to the camp. We will agree on what to do next there – a veteran told Patria.

We remind you that demobilized veterans have been protesting in front of the FBiH Government building for more than three months, where they have also set up a tent settlement, and they are demanding from the FBiH Government the establishment of a unified register of veterans, the cessation of funding for veteran associations, and a veteran's allowance for all veterans.
