Tender announced: Who will join the Independent Board instead of Međović and Malbašić?

The Commission for Elections and Appointments and Administrative Affairs has announced a public call to fill two vacant positions in the Independent Board for the Election and Review of the Police Commissioner after members Domin Malbašić (November 10) and Board President Dragan Međović (November 17) resigned, reports the Patria News Agency.

We remind you that on November 16, the Independent Board dismissed Vahid Ćosić from the position of Police Commissioner with five votes in favor and two against. Mevludin Halilović, head of the Uniformed Police Sector, is performing this duty until a new appointment. Halilović confirmed to Patria that he will apply for the position of Police Commissioner.

- The Commission invites prominent experts from the fields of legal, social, and criminal sciences, as well as from organizations dealing with human rights protection or other related fields, who are not employed in the internal affairs bodies in Bosnia and Herzegovina, to apply.

The deadline for submitting applications is 15 days.

According to the Law on Internal Affairs of the Sarajevo Canton, a member of the Independent Board who has resigned continues to perform their duties, including decision-making, until the Canton Assembly appoints a new member or members. The Independent Board makes the decision to initiate the selection process and announce a tender for the election of the Police Commissioner. In practice, this means that the current Independent Board, with two members who have resigned, can announce a tender for the election of a new Police Commissioner, but it is certain that this will not happen until two new members of the Independent Board are elected.

It is certain that the tender for the new Police Commissioner will be announced in 2017.
