Schism in Herzegovina SDP, Nikšić will have to make a decision

(Patria) - The coalition agreement on forming the government in the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, signed by SDA, HDZ, and SDP, may cost the Social Democratic Party the most.

The bearers of the social democratic idea, besides denying all their previous statements by forming a coalition with national parties, have also disappointed their membership with nepotism and family-based appointments.

The most objections are directed at Ismet Lulić, president of the SDP BiH Cantonal Committee, and Arman Zalihić, president of the SDP Mostar City Committee.

Zalihić, in particular, has been subjected to the greatest criticism and pressure from members of the Mostar SDP in recent days.

On the day the HNK Assembly confirmed the new Government, which includes two ministers from the SDP, Emil Balavac from Jablanica and Zanin Vejzović from Mostar, a meeting of the SDP Mostar City Committee was held.

The meeting took place in a heated atmosphere, and the immediate reason was the fact that the SDP City Committee had never discussed the candidate for minister from Mostar.

Moreover, Vejzović was not even a member of the SDP until that day and was only supposed to be admitted to membership. This irritated most members of the SDP City Organization, who openly blamed Zalihić for his arbitrary decisions, favoritism, and nepotism in appointments.

After a multi-hour discussion, the City Committee session was adjourned and has not been resumed to this day. Both sides have headed to the SDP headquarters in Sarajevo: Zalihić and his opponents, among whom are some deserving SDP members, businessmen, and prominent individuals who are tired of false promises and autocratic management of the social democratic party. These individuals would be welcomed by other political parties in Mostar.

The current situation is a stalemate, with both sides expecting support from president Nermin Nikšić, who finds himself in an unenviable position.
