Coalition split between HDZ BiH and HDZ 1990 in Central Bosnia Canton?

(Patria) - Split among parties with Croatian affiliation; reason - months-long disagreements in the functioning of local government. The leadership of HDZ 1990, at a session of its Cantonal Board held in Travnik, has given HDZ BiH a 60-day deadline to implement their demands, signed in an agreement on joint action in this canton. Otherwise, the agreement will be terminated.

There are several reasons for the disagreements between long-term partners, who, along with SDA, form the government at the cantonal level and in most municipalities in Central Bosnia. Among other things, the unilateral increase in per diems for councilors in Travnik, and the method of election and functioning of municipal authorities.

HDZ 1990 claims that HDZ BiH has cooperated better with SDA than with its partner Croatian party, even though they claim to have fulfilled their part of the agreement, contributing significantly to the fight for common national interests.

"We will never give up on national interests and we separate them. But increasing per diems, neglecting communal services, neglecting water in Busovača, neglecting the construction of small hydropower plants and environmental pollution are not national interests. These are things that have nothing to do with national interests, and we are sending a very clear message that we will point this out and that we will not agree to it," said the president of HDZ 1990, Ilija Cvitanović.

HDZ BiH believes that unity should be maintained, especially at a time when they expect constitutional and electoral changes, and that problems, which they admit exist in the functioning of some local communities, should be resolved through dialogue.

"Our stance from the beginning has been that Croats in Central Bosnia should build unity. As long as this constitutional solution exists, and we are working on it," said Radoje Vidović, president of HDZ BiH SBK, FTV reports.

"If someone has a problem that HDZ BiH and SDA agree on most things in Travnik, so we don't have significant problems in Municipal Council sessions, if the only thing that can be criticized about HDZ and SDA councilors is that they increased the per diem by 50 marks, then I think those councilors are doing a good job," believes Bojan Domić, president of the Municipal Board of HDZ BiH Travnik.

We remind you that this is not the first time that HDZ 1990 SBK has opposed the decisions of its coalition partner, and even those of HNS, warning that it is literally serving one party. But as things stand, the two HDZs in Central Bosnia will remain partners for at least two more months, at least on paper. However, according to announcements from Devedesetka, they will go to the next elections independently at all levels.
