Ranko Čović the Only One Alongside Seka Izetbegović: Surgeon Until Noon, Deputy Mayor of Sarajevo After Noon

Until noon, a surgeon at the General Hospital “Prim.dr. Abdulah Nakaš”, after noon, Deputy Mayor of Sarajevo. He is Dr. Ranko Čović. His political path to the stars was not thorny, on the contrary, everything went his way. It is enough to be obedient and loyal, and you get even what you never dreamed of, writes the Patria news agency.

His name, when it comes to politics, of course, not his profession, first became known to the public when Dr. Sebija Izetbegović wanted to become the director of the General Hospital. At that time, Dr. Čović, as a member of the Management Board of this hospital, voted for her appointment. There is no need to remind now, because even the birds on the branch know how the well-orchestrated replacement of Dr. Bakir Nakaš and the appointment of Izetbegović went in 2013.

Izetbegović was appointed in February 2013, and a month later Ranko Čović was rewarded with the position of Deputy Mayor of the City of Sarajevo. From the quota of SDA cadres.

At the beginning, he was a full-time deputy mayor, but later the director enabled him to be a surgeon for four hours a day, and then to devote himself to his political function. This is perhaps the first time in a capital city of a country that a deputy mayor works in two places. But, in the City Administration of the City of Sarajevo, where the sole focus is on fulfilling the wishes of individuals, political trading and political scheming, this is not surprising. Unfortunately, it is taken for granted that anyone can do whatever they want.

Therefore, his instructed reaction and memorized statement about the merger of UKCS, which is now taken over by Sebija Izetbegović, and the General Hospital should not be surprising at all. In the media, so far, as expected, he is the only doctor from this hospital who agrees with the plans and wishes of Dr. Izetbegović.

Čović said a few days ago that he understands the citizens' reaction regarding the merger of hospitals, but that things should be viewed rationally.

- The General Hospital was my home for two years during the war and I am very emotionally attached to that institution. However, emotions are one thing, reality and possibilities are another. In order for our fellow citizens to have effective health care, we must concentrate material and human resources so that they are most accessible to citizens, Čović believes.
