RAK reminds: Election silence from October 1st at 7 AM until the closing of the last polling station

The Communications Regulatory Agency (RAK) reminds all providers of audiovisual media services and radio media services of the obligation to observe election silence immediately before the elections to be held on October 2, 2016, it was announced from RAK, reports the Patria News Agency.

Chapter 16. Media Election Process, Article 16.11 of the Election Law states:

“During the 24 hours before the opening of polling stations in the territory of BiH, there will be no media reporting on any activity related to the political and election campaign. The period of election silence lasts until the closing of polling stations.”

A complete ban on media coverage of any election activities will take effect on Saturday, October 1st at 07:00 AM, and will last until the closing of the last polling station in BiH on Sunday, October 2nd.

RAK also reminds of Article 16.10 of the Election Law of BiH, which states: “In the period of 48 hours before the opening of polling stations, until the closing of polling stations, the results of public opinion polls related to voting and elections will not be published.” 

The ban on publishing the results of public opinion polls related to voting and elections takes effect on Friday, September 30th at 07:00 AM and lasts until the closing of the last polling station in BiH on Sunday, October 2, 2016.
