Raguž requests reports on the number of displaced persons in BiH

Delegate in the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH and president of HDZ 1990, Martin Raguž, opened the topic of implementing Annex VII of the Dayton Peace Agreement at today's session of the House of Peoples, which defines the issue of the rights and return of refugees and displaced persons, reports the Patria news agency.

Emphasizing the Agreement on Refugees and Displaced Persons as one of the most important elements of the Dayton Peace Agreement, Raguž stated that it is time for the competent institutions, based on data obtained from the last census, to address this issue and provide precise information on the extent to which return has been realized, as well as the rights, security, health insurance, employment, and education of returnees.

- Our country, in the midst of the war storm, experienced large movements and an exodus of the population. More than 160,000 Croats were expelled from Bosnian Posavina alone. What about these people today? The institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina must insist on the implementation of Annex VII and enable the right and opportunity for return to every person who expresses a desire for it - said Raguž, requesting from the Council of Ministers precise data and a strategy for the realization of this important issue.

Minister for Human Rights and Refugees Semiha Borovac thanked the president of HDZ 1990 for opening this topic, responding that the competent ministry will prepare all requested information by September this year and present a strategy for the return of displaced and exiled persons, reports NAP.
