Radončić: Instead of verbal protection for journalists, Džaferović could have provided them with protective equipment

SARAJevo, (Patria) - The BiH Coordination Body for Protection and Rescue is very grateful for the letter from the Chairman of the BiH Presidency, Mr. Šefik Džaferović, that everything be done to enable safer working conditions for journalists, which he sent to us and the media, according to a statement from the BiH Coordination Body.

"Crisis headquarters, from municipal, cantonal to entity level, have given precise instructions for all citizens, which consequently applies to employees of media houses. The BiH Coordination Body at the state level has already taken measures for press conferences to be held in the hall of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, where journalists can be several meters apart, or in front of the building, so these measures are already being implemented. The Minister of Security of BiH and the president of the BiH Coordination Body, Fahrudin Radončić, as a long-time journalist and founder of the largest media house in BiH after the war, is extremely concerned about the health of every journalist and other employees of media houses on that basis," the statement reads.

However, the statement adds, Minister Radončić is equally concerned about the health of every citizen of BiH or members of any profession and segment of society.

"Therefore, we want to emphasize the importance that all employees of medical institutions, police, Armed Forces, the electric power system, city or regional water supply and sewerage, and many other expert professions, on whose health and self-protection the strategic maintenance and functioning of the lives of all citizens of BiH will depend, also receive equal attention from individual members of the BiH Presidency. We ask Mr. Džaferović to, instead of knocking on already open doors, use his presidential and party authority and urgently, if he hasn't already, procure several thousand pairs of protective gloves, masks, and disinfectants and donate them to all media houses in BiH, thus showing genuine concern for the health of employees of public discourse," the BiH Coordination Body stated.
