Radončić: There is a possibility that SBB and SDP have a majority in the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The President of the Alliance for a Better Future Fahrudin Radončić stated that he was pleased with the news from Brussels, but hopes that upon their return, the members of the Presidency of BiH will not continue as before. 

“I hope they will have more strategic and state-building policies, and less arguing and harsh rhetoric,” Radončić said as a guest on Dan uživo on N1. 

When it comes to forming the government, Radončić said that for now, “SBB is observing the situation from the sidelines.” He emphasized that SBB has built the strongest relationship with SDP BiH because they consider them the leader in that bloc based on the number of votes won. Radončić could not specify whether he thought the BH bloc, which includes the Democratic Front and Our Party in addition to SDP, would form a coalition with SDA. 

“Time will tell if they will form a coalition with SDA. We expect that if such a scenario occurs, at the moment they form the government in the Federation of BiH and at the state level, they will then initiate a change in the Sarajevo government, i.e., seek a replacement for People and Justice and SBB. Until that happens, we will strive to show that this government is working faster, better, and that the citizens deserve it,” said Radončić.

He stated that SBB is not afraid to be the leader of the opposition, and that it is not a good idea for everyone to be in power. 

“If SDA, SDP BiH, SBB, DF, and Our Party are in power, who will be in the opposition then? No one has the right to leave a democratic country without a potent opposition,” said Radončić. 

The President of SBB stated that the transition from nationalistic camps to a phase of dialogue and relaxed relations should occur. 

Radončić also revealed that he spoke with the President of SDP BiH Nermin Nikšić today about the possibility of these two parties having three delegates in the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, compared to two from SDA. 

When asked about his relationship with the President of SDA Bakir Izetbegović, Radončić said that SDA is prone to sudden moves about which they do not inform their partners. 

Radončić also commented on the SDA's initiative to change the name of the BiH entity Republika Srpska, as well as the HNS Declaration. 

“If we are to reset relations in BiH, I would be happiest if we returned to the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, but that is not possible. It is negative for any institution to deny the decisions of the Hague Tribunal. What the best judges concluded in their verdicts, and for that to be politically treated, cannot contribute to the stabilization of relations between Bosniaks and Croats.
