Radončić cannot lead the fight against corruption from the Presidency, he needs the Prime Minister's position!

The President of the Alliance for Better Future, Fahrudin Radončić, has not yet announced his decision on whether he will run for a member of the Presidency of BiH, although there are just over two weeks left until the deadline of the Central Election Commission, reports the BiH news agency Patria (NAP).

Radončić's ambitions are the only big unknown ahead of the election race. According to all relevant analyses, much will depend on Radončić's decision on where he will run, especially regarding the race for the Bosniak member of the Presidency of BiH.

So far, Dr. Mustafa Cerić has officially announced a serious candidacy for that position, and the Deputy President of SDA, Bakir Izetbegović, expects the party to nominate him. If Radončić also decides to be a candidate for that position, Bosniaks will choose between the three most dominant public figures in the last fifteen years in the October elections.

There is no doubt that such a race would be fierce, full of animosity, and with political consequences and casualties from which the Bosniak political factor would hardly recover. Izetbegović would certainly, in the fight against two strong challengers, try to maximally mobilize all party and "para-party" infrastructure, and the public's focus would shift to a clash of personalities, not programs and political visions.

Radončić, as an experienced politician and businessman, is aware of the importance of this decision, and by all accounts, he is considering other options - and they, by a twist of fate, exist this time. Without a doubt, and he himself has stated this several times, the position of a member of the Presidency of BiH does not fully suit his entrepreneurial profile.

A position like Prime Minister is much closer to a politician like him, where his managerial and business skills can come to the fore. What is known is that Radončić's political orientation from the very beginning was not national identification and protection of Bosniaks, but primarily a desire to stabilize the country economically and in terms of the rule of law.

The constitutional position of the members of the Presidency of BiH is clearly nationally defined and, in a way, directly conflicts with the political vision and practice shown so far by Radončić's SBB.

The seat in the Presidency of BiH undoubtedly has its significance, but its powers, position, and character do not correspond to Radončić's declared political goals – the fight against corruption, economic development, and BiH's European integration. And even if he wins, it is questionable whether Radončić could fulfill what his voters expect from him from the position of a member of the Presidency.

On the other hand, the function of the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH, which belongs to Bosniaks after the next elections, is a far better option for implementing the policies he has declared publicly. By potentially deciding not to enter the race for the Presidency of BiH, Radončić, according to some opinions, would show seriousness, political consistency, and a state-building attitude, and the intention to put the right people in the right positions.

All of this is completely clear to the leader of SBB, and that is probably why he is still weighing the decision between risking and running for the Presidency for the sake of promoting his own party, or waiting and using his political capital in the position of state Prime Minister, which – according to the current state of affairs – would be guaranteed to him by a solid election result with the existing large coalition capacity, reports NAP.
