Radončić: Cerić and Izetbegović are strong rivals, SBB has not yet decided

Appearing on the Dnevnik D program of Federal Television, the president of the Union for a Better Future, Fahrudin Radončić, said that in the race for the Bosniak member of the Presidency there are two strong rivals, Bakir Izetbegović, deputy president of the SDA, and Dr. Mustafa Cerić, an independent candidate. He noted that Izetbegović won 160,000 votes in the previous elections, but that he „thinks he no longer has that capacity“, Patria reports.

Asked whether the SBB will have a candidate, Radončić said that the party's Presidency will decide on that, but that „without false modesty, the SBB candidate has a strong chance of winning for the Bosniak member of the BiH Presidency“.

Radončić also spoke about possible coalitions with the SDA and DF, but said that there will be no pre-election coalition with the SDA, and that after the elections everything is possible, noting that the SDA is a serious political project.

- We agreed on a joint appearance in the RS and that remains, and with people from the SDA we exchanged ideas about progress – said Radončić.

Commenting on the arrest of the former director of the Indirect Taxation Authority of BiH, Kemal Čaušević, and asked whether he fears what Čaušević might say, Radončić said that arrested people are those who should take care of public money, not steal it.

- I went through five months of checks when I assumed the position of Minister of Security, so I am not afraid. I encourage agencies to do their job – said Radončić, adding that some others should be afraid.

Radončić said that it is necessary to create a system that will fight corruption, and the bearers of that system should be state prosecutors. Commenting on the indictment against Goran Zubac, director of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA), Radončić said that he gave a statement to the prosecutor as a witness.

- Perhaps the court is the best place to resolve this. If the court says that he should have listened to the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies, then we will never have that problem again. Now everything depends on the judiciary – said Radončić.

When asked by the editor, he explained that at the time when the riots broke out on February 7, he called Zubac, but he did not answer. He then asked Himzo Selimović, director of the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies, to raise the SIPA Special Unit, to which Selimović told him that they are trained for the use of lethal force, not for public order and peace.

Radončić said that after the floods that hit our country, it is necessary to help people, but that he is reserved about the Fund and the method of managing funds. He said that criminal responsibility should also be established for those who led to such consequences, Patria reports.
