Radojičić in working visit: Sarajevo and Banja Luka can achieve much more together

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Banja Luka Mayor Igor Radojičić was on a working visit to Sarajevo today where he held a meeting with Sarajevo Canton Prime Minister Edin Forto, several ministers in the Government of the Sarajevo Canton, as well as the head of the Stari Grad municipality, Ibrahim Hadžibajrić.

Hadžibajrić told Patria that they discussed joint projects and bringing the two cities closer together. Good experiences in the field of transport in Banja Luka under the public-private partnership system were exchanged.

"We gave them suggestions regarding the wastewater treatment plant like the one we have in Butile. There was also discussion about cooperation in the fields of culture, sports, communal economy, and education. There will certainly be a return visit by a delegation from Sarajevo to Banja Luka," said the Stari Grad mayor.

Mayor Radojičić emphasized that today's meeting took place in a friendly atmosphere and that even better cooperation was agreed upon.

"This is a unique economic space where the free movement of goods, people, and capital should be complete. Any setting up of barriers is superfluous, both among ourselves and externally. In communal services, both local communities have issues regarding the functioning of heating plants, water supply, sewage and wastewater treatment, and public transport. We have different experiences and in all of this we can help each other. Sarajevo and Banja Luka can achieve much more together and learn from one another," Radojičić stressed.

Prime Minister Forto stated that they will work on improving cooperation in all areas where possible, but one of the first projects is cooperation in tourism offerings.

Sarajevo will support Banja Luka in the European Capital of Culture 2024 project.
