Kafilierija worker "laughed off" Sarajevo woman trying to report dangerous dog, Petrović says everything is fine

A meeting of representatives of the Canton, City, and municipalities was held today at the KS Government to finally start solving the stray dog problem, reports the Patria News Agency. The JKP Rad Kafilieria service will be fully operational from next week – at least that's what was announced after the meeting.

KS Minister of Spatial Planning Zlatko Petrović told NAP that it is very important to emphasize that dogs will not be caught or euthanized without an adequate order and solution from a veterinarian.

- Everything in accordance with the law. In the first phase, it is important for me to prevent extreme incidents, bites, and then we will proceed to a systematic solution of this problem – said Petrović.

He further stated that citizens will be able to contact the kafilieria service, but today, for example, that was not the case.

An employee from the JKP Rad Kafilieria service literally laughed at a fellow citizen (name and surname known to the editorial office) after she tried to report an aggressive dog that has been attacking people for days in the Sarajevo settlement of Breka.

- The person on the other end of the line told me: "Oh, dear child, what report. We haven't been working for five years. Do you think we have a single vehicle. And even if these dogs are caught, what then with them". I was shocked and truly confused. Who should I believe now – says the Sarajevo woman, who yesterday, along with her family, experienced the dog's aggression.

However, even after such statements, which we presented to Minister Petrović, he said that everything will be done properly.

- The financial aspect of it is also completed. I received the authority on Thursday to work on this problem, and I will solve it. Never mind the employee. All activities will be carried out in accordance with the Law on Animal Welfare, the Law on Public Health, and Veterinary Medicine – added Petrović.
