Workers' rights and wage increases are a priority

TEŠANJA, (Patria) - Denis Bećirović stated in Tešanj that it is "unacceptable that the minimum wage, which unfortunately a large number of workers receive, is not enough to cover almost any household expenses.

- It is a devastating fact for this society that a four-member working family with two minimum wages cannot even secure basic existence - Bećirović said.

Bećirović emphasized that it is "inhumane and uncivilized to allow workers who spend full working hours, and even more than that, working demanding jobs, to not be able to earn enough from their work and effort to feed their families. According to all relevant statistics, about 25% of working families live in absolute poverty. This is unacceptable in a democratic society."

Finally, Bećirović stated that it is "the task of everyone, regardless of the position we hold in society, to protect our citizens' right to existence.

- Minimum wages must be increased, and the state should bear the majority of the burden of this increase. The interests of businessmen must not be opposed to the interests of workers. Businessmen should be given the opportunity, and even the obligation, to increase workers' wages by reducing contributions - Bećirović concluded and added that the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina must be led by responsible politicians who constantly listen to the needs of both workers and businessmen, react to them quickly, and create regulations accordingly.
