Željeznice RS workers end hunger strike

The hunger strike of the Željeznice Republike Srpske workers has been suspended. The strikers decided this after the offer they received at a meeting with the President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, reports BHT 1, as conveyed by the Patria News Agency.

The strikers accepted Dodik's offer to be paid for two hot meals, two travel allowances, and the August salary by the end of the month.

Furthermore, salary payments should be regular from now on, and there should be no issues with health insurance card validation.

The political party led by Milorad Dodik had previously stated that the railway workers' hunger strike was unjustified and politically motivated, aiming to destabilize the situation in Republika Srpska.

The railway workers decided to go on a hunger strike because the company's management owes them payments for two hot meals, four travel allowances, and health insurance.

At the same time, according to them, the management is asking the entity government to increase their own salaries. For this reason, they also demanded the dismissal of the director of Željeznice Republike Srpske.

This last demand of the strikers is not mentioned after the meeting with Dodik.
