(Patria) - Members of the Trade Union of State Employees and Officials of the Judiciary of Herzegovina-Neretva Canton (HNK) held a one-hour warning strike due to the poor financial situation of court employees.
According to the president of the Trade Union of State Employees and Officials of HNK, Mija Ćorić, the salary of a state official in the HNK courts is 1,071 marks, while the average salary in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina is 1,380 marks.
- It is quite clear that our salaries are not enough for a decent life. Without intending to exaggerate our role, state employees and officials make a huge contribution to the judicial system, and without us, there is no work in judicial institutions. We appreciate judges and prosecutors, their high education and work, but they could not do their jobs without us - said Ćorić.
The Trade Union of State Employees and Officials of the Judiciary of HNK demands a 20 percent salary increase and its regular adjustment to the growth of consumer prices.
- Our demands are not megalomaniacal or unrealistic, and with good negotiations and the good will of the HNK Government, they can be met - said Ćorić.
Around 200 state employees and officials are employed in the judicial institutions of Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, of which 60 percent are members of the Trade Union.
The Prime Minister of HNK, Marija Buhač, announced on Monday that she will hold a meeting with representatives of the Trade Union of State Employees and Officials of the Judiciary of HNK by the end of the week.
