Radio Free Europe: Help Us Collect 8,372 Photographs from Srebrenica

Radio Free Europe will present the special project SREBRENICA: EVERY PHOTOGRAPH IS AN UNTOLD STORY, on Friday, June 31 at the UNITIC business center starting at 11 a.m., reports the Patria news agency.

With about 2,500 photographs, Radio Free Europe brings the largest database of victims of the Srebrenica genocide collected in one place, and they are inviting citizens to help them collect 8,372 photographs, the number of people believed to have been killed in Srebrenica.

Radio Free Europe explains that the project speaks about the people behind the numbers. About fathers, sons, brothers and husbands who, until that July of 1995, loved, were loved, worked, lived a life like the one we live today. And then it was all taken away from them.

The project, which began on the 20th anniversary of the commemoration of the Srebrenica genocide, aims to collect as many photographs of the victims as possible with the help of Bosnian media and the public, and to encourage family members to send photographs of their loved ones in order to supplement the existing database.

At the conference on Friday, speakers will include Fadila Memišević, director of the Society for Threatened Peoples of Bosnia and Herzegovina; Mirsad Tokača, director of the Research and Documentation Center; photographer Amel Emrić; Milenko Voćkić, head of the Radio Free Europe bureau in Bosnia and Herzegovina; and project author Dženana Halimović, reports NAP.
