Raab: Good Friday Agreement is threatened by the EU, not the UK

(Patria) – British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab stated that during his recent visit to Washington, he told members of the US government that it is the European Union, not Great Britain, that threatens to undermine the Good Friday Agreement which brought peace to Northern Ireland.

Let us recall, the British government adopted a bill that violates certain articles of the Northern Ireland Protocol, as well as parts of the Withdrawal Agreement (of Great Britain from the EU) which seeks to avoid border checkpoints between Northern Ireland, governed by Great Britain, and Ireland, an EU member.

US Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden warned Great Britain that it must respect the Good Friday Agreement during and after its withdrawal from the EU, or there will be no trade deal with the US.
