Travelers' Choice: Ten Craziest Visa Application Questions

After spending half a day (or more) cramped in an airplane, the last thing you probably want is to answer immigration questions, which can indicate excessive security measures or pure bureaucracy, reports the Patria News Agency.

IXPVisas.com surveyed 1,452 travelers in 2013, and these are the 10 worst questions asked on visa applications:

1. Middle East (not specified exactly where)

"How many women do you plan to bring?"

2. USA

"Between 1933 and 1945, were you in any way involved in persecutions related to Nazi Germany or its allies?"

3. Mexico

"Foreigners, please sing in the box" (error, instead of: sign)

4. United Kingdom and USA

"Has the applicant ever been involved in, supported, or incited terrorist activities in any country?"

5. Australia

"Have you been on a farm in the last six weeks?"

6. USA

"On which side of the bed does your wife sleep?"

7. Mexico

"Describe your mustache/beard" (one answer could be circled: 'scanty', 'thick', or 'trimmed')

8. Student visa for the United Kingdom

"In times of peace or war, has the applicant ever been involved or suspected of involvement in war crimes, crimes against humanity, or genocide?"

9. India

Allegedly on the visa, under the question of your religion, there is no option to mark that you are not religious.

10. Student visas worldwide

"List three things about..." (seven people commented that potential students are asked this question to see if they are genuine candidates)

11. China

Under 'reasons for visit', one of the offered options is: 'visit', reports the Independent.
