Roads cut off: Heavy machinery urgently needed in Željezno Polje

Residents of Željezno Polje are appealing to the authorities to send heavy machinery as soon as possible to restore road communication in this village, reports the Bosnian news agency Patria (NAP).

Željezno Polje suffered enormous material damage during the floods in May this year. Landslides wiped out dozens of houses and road infrastructure, and agricultural estates were destroyed.

This village was again hit by the floods that struck Bosnia and Herzegovina a few days ago, after which road infrastructure is once again cut off.

Mujo Šišić, one of the residents of Željezno Polje, told the Patria agency that this village can now only be reached via an alternative route through Biljevina, while the main road communication is interrupted.

- We have information that heavy machinery is supposed to arrive to help us restore road communication, but as of today (August 8), as far as I know, the machinery has not arrived - said Šišić.

- This morning I noticed two machines, one was cleaning the riverbed, and the other was, reportedly, broken down at that moment - he added, writes NAP.

Most residents of this village live from agricultural products that they place on markets throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina or other countries, so any interruption in road communication for these residents means a complete halt to life in this village, reports a Patria agency reporter.
