Pusić warned European colleagues: Šešelj is a deranged war criminal

Croatian Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Vesna Pusić said in Brussels on Monday at a meeting of EU foreign ministers that she would warn her European colleagues about the circumstances in southeastern Europe due to the release of Vojislav Šešelj from the Hague Tribunal last week, reports the BH News Agency Patria.
 
- Šešelj, above all, harms Serbia, which currently has a deranged war criminal on its streets. They are our neighbor who has embarked on the European path, and this harms their European path. It also harms Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is less stable and is only at the beginning of its European path - said Pusić.
 
She believes that Šešelj's release represents a destabilizing factor, primarily in regional relations and public opinion in the region.

- I will certainly mention this in the context of Bosnia and Herzegovina and warn about the complicating circumstance that has emerged, which is, I don't have a better term, a lunatic element in the region - said the minister before the start of the meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the European Union.

Pusić also noted yesterday that the new initiative on BiH, launched by Croatia in the spring and continued by Germany and Great Britain, will soon become an EU initiative.

- The basic idea of the new approach in BiH is to reorder the steps for the country's approximation to candidate status for the EU - said Pusić, adding that the most important task of the new leadership of BiH is to bring their country closer to candidate status.
 
According to the new initiative, BiH leaders should commit to implementing the necessary reforms, and the EU will enable the Stabilization and Association Agreement to enter into force, and after that, open the possibility for BiH to apply for membership in the European Union and obtain candidate status, reports Patria.
