Purivatra presented the Heart of Sarajevo award to Oliver Stone

Oscar winner Oliver Stone received the special award Honorary Heart of Sarajevo at the Open Air Cinema Metalac at the 23rd Sarajevo Film Festival, for his exceptional contribution to the film industry. The award was presented to him by Mirsad Purivatra, director of the Sarajevo Film Festival, in front of more than 3,000 people.

In his long career, Stone has directed feature films, short films, and documentaries, exposing controversial historical figures and events, often in a controversial manner, but he has always remained true to himself. He is also known for his passionate defense of his views and films.

In a career spanning since 1971, he has achieved almost everything, and with his work and unique ideas, he has cemented himself among the legends of Hollywood. The Honorary Heart of Sarajevo award is his 61st in his career. 

As he said upon arriving on the red carpet in front of the National Theatre, he is honored by the award that actually represents people's feelings. Stone also visited Sarajevo in 2002 and pointed out that the city has changed a lot, been built up, and is more vibrant since then.
