Dam breaks near Grahovo, no human casualties

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The dam on the artificial lake Borovača near Bosanski Grahovo broke due to heavy rainfall, causing material damage, but there were no human casualties, explained the mayor of the municipality, Uroš Đuran.

"The dam on the artificial lake in the settlement of Borovača of the same name broke. It was probably damaged by shells during the last war, and now after heavy rainfall and a large accumulation of water, it could not withstand that damage," said Đuran.

According to him, the dam break created a large wave of water, and downstream, the water submerged everything in its path.

"At one point, in the settlement across the way, the water level reached a meter high. Fortunately, there were no human casualties, and material damage was caused," said Đuran, stating that damage was caused to the Jovandić family living in Borovača.
