Pudarić: We still don't know if the SDP candidate will be Bosniak

The session of the Main Board of SDP was held today in Sarajevo, but the name of the candidate for the BiH Presidency is still unknown, confirmed Svetozar Pudarić, president of the GO SDP, for the Patria news agency. As Pudarić stated at the session of the Presidency of SDP, and later at the Main Board, it was decided that there will definitely be a candidate from SDP.

- Additional consultations are needed between several candidates. I will not reveal names until the procedure is completed - said Pudarić, refusing to say whether Denis Bećirović, Nermin Nikšić, or Lidija Korać are in the running. He emphasized that these candidates are already on the SDP lists for the upcoming elections.

- It is not yet known if they are Bosniak or Croat, but the Main Board acknowledged that additional consultations are necessary for the candidate who can realistically achieve a result. I can only say that these are very well-known individuals who are directly associated with SDP. They will not need special introductions - stated Pudarić.

He further noted that SDP expects any of the proposed candidates to achieve a good result, i.e., win the race for a member of the Presidency.

- We will go for a candidate who is undoubtedly an SDP member and whom we expect to win - added Pudarić.

Otherwise, it is speculated that Denis Bećirović refused the candidacy for the Bosniak member of the BiH Presidency, and that it was later offered to Nermin Nikšić, who is also reconsidering. Given that Pudarić confirmed that the name and nationality are still unknown, Lidija Korać has returned to the game and could be a candidate for the Croat member of the BiH Presidency.      

Otherwise, the deadline for submitting candidate lists to the Central Election Commission of BiH is July 14, 2014.
