(Patria) - Scholarship recipients of the IKRE Fund received their last scholarship in March, and three payments are still owed to them. The main activity of the "IKRE" Fund is the education and scholarship of children of soldiers, fallen soldiers and fallen civilians – victims of war.
The director of the IKRE Fund, Smajo Halilović, confirmed to Patria that this is the first time a delay has occurred since the Fund started awarding scholarships, and that they are waiting for an installment from the Ministry of Finance of Canton Sarajevo.
"Money is being collected, you know the situation with budget filling. I hope it will be resolved by the end of the month," Halilović said, noting that the salaries of Fund employees were also delayed.
The IKRE Fund pays scholarships for nine months, and 2,330 people have exercised this right. A monthly scholarship of 150 KM is received by 2,100 high school and university students, 200 KM is received by 200 master's students, and 500 KM monthly is received by 30 doctoral students.
The "IKRE" Fund was established in 1993 by a decision of the Sarajevo City Assembly and began operations in 1994. Since 1996, the founder's rights have been taken over by the Assembly of Canton Sarajevo.
