First time since elections were interrupted: Izetbegović visits Stolac

For the first time since the elections in Stolac were interrupted on October 2, marked by a series of incidents and physical clashes and never held again, SDA President Bakir Izetbegović is visiting Stolac. He will hold a meeting with members of the SDA Municipal Committee, headed by Salmir Kaplan, who is also the candidate for mayor, and the Initiative for Stolac, reports the Bosnian news agency Patria.

Incidentally, the Central Election Commission (CIK) removed Salmir Kaplan from the candidate list, but the Appellate Division of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina sent the decision back for reconsideration. In the repeated procedure, the CIK made decisions on sanctioning and removing Salmir Kaplan from the list. Demir Mahmutćehajić, Ahmet Ljubović, and Božo Raguž were also removed as candidates for the Stolac Municipal Council.

The SDA reacted, stating that certain CIK members are further undermining the credibility and trustworthiness of the institution responsible for democratizing the electoral process in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

- It is clear that the deliberate delay in making a decision on repeating the electoral process in the municipality of Stolac creates an atmosphere of confusion and legal vacuum, which may ultimately result in a complete paralysis of the CIK's work and the impossibility of repeating the elections in Stolac - it was announced in mid-month.

Kaplan has again filed an appeal against the new CIK decision with the Appellate Division of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
