First Corps of the Army of RBiH celebrates its 22nd anniversary tomorrow

The First Corps of the Army of RBiH celebrates its 22nd anniversary tomorrow, writes the BiH news agency Patria (NAP).

The most significant corps of the Army of RBiH, in whose zone of responsibility was also the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, was founded on September 1, 1992. The first commander was Mustafa Hajrulahović Talijan, and the commanders of this corps later included Generals Vahid Karavelić and Nedžad Ajnadžić.

The First Corps of the Army of RBiH was one of seven corps within the Army of RBiH. At the very beginning of the Serbian aggression against BiH, it had 34,500 members, and by 1995, the number had grown to 40,500 members.

As many as 472 members of the First Corps of the Army of RBiH were awarded the highest wartime honor "Golden Lily", 19 members were awarded the wartime honor "Silver Shield", while 29 members were awarded the highest state honors by the Presidency of BiH. In addition, three brigades within this corps were awarded the collective honor "Glorious" and four brigades the highest collective honor "Knightly".
