First day of fasting on February 19, Eid prayer on March 20

(Patria) - With the sunset on Wednesday, February 18, the blessed month of Ramadan begins, and the first tarawih prayer will be performed then, announced the Directorate for Religious Affairs of the Islamic Community in BiH.

The first day of fasting is on Thursday, February 19, and according to the Islamic Community's calendar, the Eid prayer will be performed on Friday, March 20, at 6:29 AM.

Fasting during the month of Ramadan is among the fundamental pillars of Islam and represents a clear obligation for every adult, sane, and healthy Muslim man and woman who is at home.

Fasting lasts from dawn until sunset. During fasting, a believer is forbidden from consuming food and drink, smoking, as well as marital intimacy.

However, fasting is not limited to abstaining from bodily needs. It also includes guarding one's tongue, gaze, and thoughts – not to backbite, spread gossip, engage in inappropriate glances, or anything that diminishes the value of fasting.

The obligation to give Sadaqat al-Fitr is also associated with Ramadan, which applies to every adult Muslim man and woman who has excess food beyond their needs for one day during Ramadan.

Sadaqat al-Fitr is paid by the head of the household, for themselves and for their family members, in accordance with their financial capabilities.

The Council of Muftis of the Islamic Community in BiH has decided that the amount of Sadaqat al-Fitr for Ramadan 1447 AH, or 2026, for our country will be 15 KM, 20 KM, and 25 KM.

The amount of Nisab, as the threshold for the obligation of Zakat, for the upcoming Ramadan is 24,624.00 KM, or 12,619.00 euros, or 14,950.00 dollars.

The full intention of the regulations for Sadaqat al-Fitr and Zakat is realized exclusively through institutional collection into the Baitul-Mal Fund and its institutional distribution, which ensures transparency, proper distribution, and assistance to those most in need.

During the month of Ramadan, the Rijaset and other organizational units of the Islamic Community will organize numerous religious activities and unique programs to mark significant dates – the Battle of Badr, the Conquest of Mecca, and Laylat al-Qadr, the night when the revelation of the Quran, the last divine revelation, began.
