First day of Kurban-Bajram on Wednesday, May 27, central ceremony at Gazi Husrev-beg Mosque, Bajram prayer at 5:49 AM

(Patria) - According to the Calendar of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the first day of Kurban-Bajram 1447 AH / 2026 AD will be on Wednesday, May 27.

The Bajram prayer at Gazi Husrev-beg Mosque in Sarajevo, where the central Bajram ceremony of the Islamic Community in BiH will be held, will be performed starting at 5:49 AM.

The Bajram sermon on this occasion will be delivered by the Rais-ul-Ulama, Dr. Husein-ef. Kavazović.

After the morning prayer, which will be performed starting at 4:30 AM, a festive program will be held performed by renowned reciters of the Quran, ilahijas and qasidas, while a special lecture will be given by the director of Gazi Husrev-beg Madrasa in Sarajevo, M.Sc. Dževad Pleh.

BHT1 and BIR television are scheduled to broadcast the central Bajram ceremony live.

On the first day of Bajram, the Rais-ul-Ulama organizes the traditional Bajram greetings, from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM, at the Administrative Building of the Islamic Community's Riasat in Kovači.

The importance of Kurban-Bajram or Hajj-Bajram is determined by the worship of sacrificing a kurban and distributing the kurban meat to the poor, friends, and neighbors, as well as the worship of Hajj, when several million Muslims stay in Mecca on specific days.

This year, more than 2,200 citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina are among them.

Kurban-Bajram lasts for four days.
