Implementation of Traffic Safety Project in Sarajevo High Schools

Organized by the Ministry of Education, Science, and Youth of Sarajevo Canton, a round table on the topic "Exchange of Experiences on the Implementation of the Law on the Fundamentals of Road Traffic Safety in BiH" is being held today at the "Student Center" building in Nedžarići, reports the Patria News Agency.  

In addition to the hosts from Sarajevo Canton, representatives of the relevant ministries from all cantons in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina are attending the round table.

In his opening address, the Minister of Education, Science, and Youth of Sarajevo Canton, Elvir Kazazović, emphasized that this round table aims to present the experience gained so far in the application of the Law on Road Traffic Safety in BiH, then to transfer positive experiences from one canton to others, to address current issues in this area, and to propose measures and possible solutions for overcoming these problems.

- The Ministry, specifically the Sector for Traffic and Education, has successfully implemented a whole series of projects, and has incorporated a significant portion of the positive experiences gained from their implementation into the curricula of our schools, with the aim of educating children on traffic safety.

The reason for this is prevention and the avoidance of negative circumstances that unfortunately often occur in traffic, relating to safety, stated Minister Kazazović, adding that their main partners in the implementation of these projects are, first and foremost, the media, then public institutions, i.e., schools, local communities, and the Faculty of Traffic Engineering in Sarajevo.

Among the projects, as he pointed out, is a new one targeting adolescents who are just obtaining their driver's licenses, because statistical data indicate that they are precisely the most frequent perpetrators and participants in traffic accidents. The Ministry's partners in this project will be high schools in Sarajevo Canton, where they will attempt to educate staff based on peer education, it was announced from the relevant ministry.
