Before leaving for the sea, be sure to check if you have your passport and other personal documents, because if you discover you forgot them only at the border, it might be too late, and you could get a misdemeanor report.

The Croatian Border Police explained to the news agency Patria that they usually have understanding towards Bosnians and Herzegovinians who cannot show travel documents at the border because they forgot them or did not see that they expired, although the border guard has every right to consider such a case an illegal attempt to enter Croatia, which is strictly punishable by law.

- When we have such a case, we most often just send people back to BiH, but in principle, it can also be considered an attempt at illegal entry into Croatia, which is strictly punishable by law – says one of the border guards, adding that such cases are rare, and it is more common for documents to have expired than for tourists to have no documents at all, writes NAP.
