Opponents of the state are demolishing ANUBiH, Grubeša is not alone

(Patria) - At a time when the Minister of Justice of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Josip Grubeša, refuses to implement the decision of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina and finally register the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the register of legal entities, the academic assault on this important institution as one of the pillars of BiH statehood is not being abandoned.

Numerous intellectuals have been trying to be drawn into the project, which has the support of Serbian intelligence services, for months, and according to Patria's data, one of the key figures could be the former president of the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Miloš Trifković. The initiators have already contacted the leader of the Platform for Progress, Mirsad Hadžikadić, who has not yet made a final decision on possible membership.

-    Today I am having a conversation that will help me see everything. My desire is precisely to avoid a possible attack on BiH through an attack on the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Hadžikadić told us.

He claims that everything was presented to him as an attempt to return Bosnianhood. Hadžikadić agrees that this should be the task of the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina, but, as he says, this is not happening. He criticizes the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina for insufficient involvement in social trends, as well as for the lack of an avant-garde that would more strongly promote the state. In his conversations, as he says, he will not neglect the possibility and need to reform the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina as a process that could be an adequate counterpart to the formation of a new academy.

The President of the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Muris Čičić, is aware of the activities to establish a new Academy of Sciences and Arts, whose name is still disputed, and considers it strange that people who are the loudest fighters for the protection of BiH appear there. It was similar with BANU, whose creator is the controversial Muamer Zukorlić, who also had the ambition to take over the Islamic Community of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

This former mufti from Novi Pazar, businessman and politician, who is followed by armed bodyguards, is considered a close friend of Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, and the media often wrote that he is frequently accompanied by members of the intelligence service of the neighboring country, BIA. 

-    BANU is part of the project of denying the idea of BiH through yet another attempt to divide its institutions on a national basis. We have been fighting for years for the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina to survive as an important symbol of statehood, and we will never give up, Čičić stated.

From the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina, they do not rule out the possibility that a criminal complaint could soon be filed against the Minister of Justice of Bosnia and Herzegovina, who persistently disputes the registration of this important institution. Unity within the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina is important for this, which is being attempted to be undermined by speculation that its regular members could move to the new academy. The name that appeared in the media is also Ejup Ganić.

-  Mr. Ganić stated that he knows nothing about that idea, Čičić told us.

Patria previously reported that the founding assembly of the new academy should take place on February 28 in Sarajevo and that the Statute is being drafted. Some potential members of the academy want it to be called the Bosnian Academy of Sciences and Arts, while others would prefer to call it the "King Tvrtko" Academy, but it is not yet known what it would deal with and what the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the other three academies in BiH already (do not) deal with.

On the list of potential members (or the list of wishes of the initiators) of the new academy, among others, are experienced diplomat Igor Davidović, economist from Banja Luka Zoran Pavlović and, very interestingly, Prof. Dr. Ranko Škrbić, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine in Banja Luka, former Minister of Health of Republika Srpska and Ambassador of BiH to Serbia, and godfather of Milorad Dodik. The short and long list includes at least 200 names.

Zoran Pavlović admitted to us that he was contacted, but says he has never received any concrete information or any paper.

-    I have given my preliminary consent in principle, but I can only make a final decision once I receive all the information. I truly believe that we in BiH need independent intelligence that will work in the interest of citizens and will not be limited by entity lines. Now, whether this is exactly about forming an academy of sciences, or whether it will be some higher education institution, I really don't know yet, Pavlović emphasized for Patria.

Pavlović, however, did not want to give the name of the person who contacted him, stating that it is a "friend" of his. What he does know is that the name Asim Kurjak is mentioned in the whole story, which matches the information Patria previously obtained. Similar to Hadžikadić, he claims that he would not participate in any project that would destroy the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina, on whose work he nevertheless has many objections.

-  I have already said that I am a supporter of gathering independent intelligence. The problem with the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina is that we do not witness their critical reviews of social reality in public. I am not claiming that the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina is not politically independent, but it would have to try harder to clearly manifest this through its expert comments, Pavlović believes.

Part of the academic community has already distanced itself from the possibility of establishing a new academy, claiming that it has nothing to do with science. Proof of this is also the behavior of the Minister of Justice of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Josip Grubeša, who, in accordance with his education on justice, philosophizes more than he tries to do his job.
