Protest march of educators in Mostar, strong police forces guarding the buildings of the Government and Assembly of HNK

(Patria) - Not even heavy rain prevented the Trade Union of Educators of HNK from holding a protest march today due to the position of educators in this canton.

They received support from other cantons that showed solidarity with their colleagues. The HNK Assembly ignored the union's demands for a thematic session on education, salary increases, indefinite contracts, and respect for collective agreements. Herzegovina's educators have been on a general strike for almost a month. Their main demand is a 15 percent salary increase, but there has been no positive response so far.

Today, strong police forces are present in front of the HNK Government and around the HNK Assembly. A larger number of police vehicles are noticeable in the streets leading to the Assembly building, and police officers are physically deployed in a cordon in front of the building.

Regardless of the Municipal Court's decision declaring the strike illegal, educators are continuing their fight for their rights.

Saudin Sivro, president of the Independent Trade Union of Education of KS, who joined the march today, also expressed support for the educators in Mostar.
