Protest march from Eternal Flame to KS Government: Thousands of workers demand better and safer healthcare

(Patria) - The KS Healthcare Workers' Union held a peaceful protest march today, with over two thousand workers, supported by other unions, marching through the streets of Sarajevo from the Eternal Flame to the KS Government building.

The unionists' message is that this is not a fight for higher wages, but for better and safer healthcare.

The demand of the Healthcare Workers' Union is an increase in the hourly rate from 3.07 to 3.70 KM, and the KS Prime Minister Nihad Uk stated that there is no money for an increase.

The workers ended their march in the park in front of the KS Government building, where a tent has been set up for the past two weeks, housing worker representatives.

With whistles and shouts, they expressed their dissatisfaction with the authorities' attitude towards workers' rights.

The gathered workers were addressed by the Union President Senad Sadiković, who thanked them for coming out in large numbers.

"Thank you very much for coming to demand higher wages and a change in the collective agreement together. We will stay here until someone from the authorities addresses us and offers in writing an hourly rate between 3.30 and 3.70. We are not staying until 2 PM, but until someone addresses us," said Sadiković.
