Protest walk 'Be part of the hyper-privileged caste': Youth invite citizens and politicians to join on Sunday

(Patria) - A peaceful protest walk titled: “Be part of the hyper-privileged caste” will be held on Sunday, 01/21/2024, announced the youth who have exercised their right to a subsidy for resolving housing issues, which amounts to 4,800 KM, despite promises of up to 12,000 KM.

The protest walk starts at 12 PM at Sebilj and ends in front of the ARIA shopping center.

"Our fight for truth, honor, dignity, for our families and future in this country is not colored by any party flag. No political party has approached us so far, nor have we asked them to. But we are also aware that among the 1,142 applicants, there are people who are members and sympathizers of certain parties, but our survey shows that more than 80% of young people are not members of any political party.

We are not alone in this fight. Day by day, citizens' awareness is awakening. Until 15 days ago, no one believed in us. Today, we have great support from citizens and the public who know that we are fighting for the right cause, because among us there are cashiers, construction workers, production workers, and also doctors, engineers, lawyers. We are all together and we are all equal!

Gentlemen politicians, your spins, manipulations, and the engagement of the usual bots you have hired to defend your interests will not succeed. We fight only with truth, and truth always prevails.

We will be parliamentary. We invite primarily the youth of Sarajevo Canton to this gathering, because if the KS Government has not fulfilled its promise to us, then it will not fulfill it to them tomorrow. We are not fighting only for ourselves, but for all young people in Sarajevo Canton so that they do not experience the same deception, agony, and betrayal that we, our 1,142, are going through", the protest invitation states.

They invited pensioners, representatives of veteran associations, the non-governmental sector,
deceived citizens, human rights activists, representatives of the Ombudsman for Human Rights, to join them in the protests.

"We also invite ambassadors of foreign countries to BiH, we invite the Head of the EU Delegation to BiH, Johann Sattler, who often uses the opportunity to call on the authorities in BiH to turn their attention to and help young people, to turn towards the future of this country. Unfortunately, this government seems to be turning its back on young people, and clearly directing them towards the embassies of foreign countries.

Ultimately, we also invite politicians of all parties to join us. Let them clearly state their position with their presence, whether they stand behind their words when they say, which they often do, that they support young people. Now is the opportunity to show it.

We hereby invite the media that are not favorably disposed towards us for reasons known to them. We do not resent them, but we ask them – at least be on the side of truth and justice, on the side of society and positive change, adhere to basic ethical journalistic codes.

Behind this statement are 1,142 young people who passed the public call for subsidies for the purchase of their first property. Behind the statement are over 800 young people who signed a petition expressing their dissatisfaction with the approved amount of just over 4,800 KM, by far the lowest since this program has existed, specifically since 2017".

They state that they support the positions of the president of “Narod i pravda” (People and Justice), Elmedin Konaković, who asked the KS Government to find funds and pay an amount close to what was promised.

"We invite Mr. Konaković to join the protests, but even more so, as the leader of his
party, to influence the representatives and ministers of “Narod i pravda” in the Assembly and Government of KS to change their current positions."

They recalled December 15, 2022, when the joint coalition of the then “Eight” with HDZ BiH and SNSD was signed.

The president of SDP BiH, Nermin Nikšić, clearly stated at the time, and television stations can confirm with video material, “that the goal of this government is for people in BiH, especially young people, not to leave the country.”

"We also invite President Nikšić to join us in the protest walk, but also to re-examine the positions of the representatives in the KS Assembly and the ministers in the KS Government. Are they for young people, or not", they state.
