The Romanian government has withdrawn the controversial decree decriminalizing many cases of corruption, said Kalin Tăriceanu, leader of the ALDE party, a junior coalition partner of the ruling Social Democrats, this evening.
After the Government adopted such a decree, hundreds of thousands of citizens took to the streets of Bucharest to express their revolt.
Protests in Victoria Square in Bucharest lasted for three days.
People were also on the streets earlier today.
