Protests in Zenica and Sarajevo: Citizens demand accountability and justice

(Patria) - Under the common slogans "Zenica Rises" and "Sarajevo Rises", protest marches are underway in these two Bosnian cities.

In addition to individual demands they will submit to the authorities, the gathered citizens want to express their dissatisfaction with the dysfunctional state, corruption, and inaction of institutions at all levels.

Citizens of Zenica took to the streets in large numbers today.

They are sending a message that they have three demands that they will submit to the relevant authorities tomorrow. Those gathered are demanding that the long-standing heating problem in the city be resolved, then that a registry of cancer patients be established, while the third demand relates to the problem of price increases and inflation.

Organizers state that these are exclusively civil protests and have no political background.

They emphasize that their future and security are threatened, and that they do not want to be mere passive observers.

They added that they want to further encourage and motivate all citizens to stand up in the fight for justice.

Gatherings of citizens have also begun in Sarajevo. This protest is a continuation of the fight for truth after the floods that claimed 27 lives in our country in October last year.

A peaceful protest march began in Baščaršija and will end in front of the building of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH.

The organizer of the protest in Sarajevo is the informal student group "Hoćel’ ta promjena".
