Citizens' protests in Sarajevo: Either you will work or you will leave!

(Patria) - A group of citizens gathered around the informal group 'Restart', who previously held protests in front of the Office of the High Representative in Sarajevo, and in front of the US Embassy, today held a protest in front of the BiH institutions, on Bosnia and Herzegovina Square. We asked the gathered people about their demands and why so few young people respond to such gatherings.

One of the gathered young people told us that their small number actually reflects the image of society. Chants of 'Either you will work or you will leave!', 'Resignations' are heard at the protest... 

"That is actually the image of our entire society. The older generation must also participate in all of this, because the younger ones learn from the older ones. The younger ones are, in a way, hostages of this kind of mentality – 'as long as there is no shooting', 'let us not protest anything', 'don't complain'.. People, politicians who represent us – they live off our money. They are obliged to listen to our voice, to implement policies that are the will of the people. Also, there must be a legal framework for those politicians who do not do their job," said a young citizen of Sarajevo.

"Today I am here to support this civic initiative, because we all need a better tomorrow. We have all become alienated and are aware that this is far from the country we want. I came out as a citizen – for myself and my family, my children, and all my friends. I want to say enough, enough of this system, enough of a country without justice," emphasizes Sanjin Sinanović from Sarajevo, N1 reports.
