Protest of War Veterans at OHR: We Want Peace, No Negotiations on BiH Sovereignty

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Peaceful protests by war veterans and paraplegics are being held opposite the OHR building.

"We have gathered to send a message to international and domestic institutions to urgently unblock the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina and return BiH institutions to the constitutional and legal framework. To send a message that in this country there are sons and daughters who are closely watching every step. That we will not allow ultra-nationalist policies to undermine the constitutional and legal order of BiH and threaten peace. Although we are seeing this in action to some extent," said Mujo Aganović, president of the Association of War Veterans and Paraplegics, at today's protest near the OHR in Sarajevo.

Also present at the protest was Fahrudin Mujkić, a 100% disabled war veteran of the first group, who lost sight in both eyes and both arms defending BiH. They stated that they want citizens of BiH to clearly know that they will remain consistent in the fight for BiH, a civic state, equal for all people of good will and honesty.

"Those for whom the state of BiH is not suitable as a civic and normal state have the right to go wherever they want. There is no separation. You can only leave. Whoever wants to go can pack their bags and go wherever they want. Whoever does not want to live in peace. We want peace. Despite everything we have experienced and survived. We have come to send a message that we will never again allow ourselves, nor international and domestic institutions, to wait in lines for slaughter and rape, mass graves... Because the behavior of international institutions, including the OHR, reminds us of the dark 1990s when we had Prijedor, Foča, Ahmići, Srebrenica, Sarajevo... And we had agreements, and in the end the Dayton Peace Agreement was offered to us when we could have defended the state. We understand all that, but we accepted it so that human casualties would not fall, children would not die, people would not lose limbs, and that finally this sun would warm every person," said Aganović.

The Association of War Veterans and Paraplegics of BiH has written a letter to international and domestic institutions containing the demands they will submit. Among other things, they demand that ultra-nationalist, war-mongering policies be stopped and sanctioned, and that the blockade of the state of BiH be urgently ended. They also demand that mechanisms be ensured to prevent the blocking of the state and that the functioning of the state of BiH be returned to the constitutional and legal framework.

They also demand that the USA assume its obligations in full capacity in the context of authentic interpretation and implementation of the Dayton Peace Agreement, as well as that official Belgrade and Zagreb be clearly informed of their role in the context of signing Dayton.

"When it comes to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the state of BiH, the words discussion, compromise, and negotiations should be completely excluded in the future; there is no debate about that," they stated, N1 reports.
