Protest in front of the Parliament of Bosnia and Herzegovina: Accountability and justice sought for flood victims, numerous messages on banners

(Patria) - The informal student group "Hoće l' ta promjena" is organizing today's protests in front of the building of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PSBiH) due to the situation of residents of Jablanica, the Konjic area, and Fojnica following last year's floods. Around 12:00, several hundred people gathered with banners arrived at the plateau of the Parliament of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

They are demanding accountability and justice for those killed in the floods. As stated in their earlier calls, they have the support of all people who believe it is time to take action and bring about change. They also emphasized that the state is the first address they must turn to if they want justice to be served.

Citizens at the protests also displayed banners with slogans such as "We are disgusted by you in all three languages," "You are not small, you are the rhythm of the future," "Wake up, get moving," and others.

"They were not killed by rain or stone, but by the negligence of competent authorities, services, and institutions, which did not act preventively and responsibly towards all our lives, our homes, and nature. The loss of life is the hardest, and many families have lost everything - their homes. Four full months have passed, and still no one has been held accountable for the deaths of 29 fellow citizens," they stated earlier.

The Herzegovina-Neretva Canton Prosecutor's Office issued a public statement this morning, providing no new information except that expert findings are expected.
