“The Beggar's Opera” in Sarajevo: A Play about a Country where Laws Apply Only to the Poor

Sarajevo residents will enjoy the satirical comedy “The Beggar's Opera”, directed by Kokan Mladenović, which will be performed on the stage of the National Theatre Sarajevo on Wednesday, starting at 19:30.

The play “The Beggar's Opera”, written by John Gay in 1728, is about a disintegrating country where no morality exists anymore. About a country where laws exist, but are applied exclusively to the poor, and where politics, the executive power, the judiciary, the police, and high-level crime work together against the ordinary, little man.

The cast includes: Andrea Aković, Darja Badnjević, Amina Begović, Mak Čengić, Vedran Đekić, Saša Krmpotić, Mirvad Kurić, Merima Lepić, Riad Ljutović, Emina Muftić, Mediha Musliović, Aldin Omerović, Milan Pavlović, Sanela Pepeljak, Vedrana Seksan, Aleksandar Seksan, Ermin Sijamija, and Slaven Vidak, writes Patria.
