Three victims found, investigators to search the area again after checks

The exhumation from the mass grave at the Jasenova site near Srebrenica was completed yesterday, and the complete remains of three victims were found, said Lejla Čengić, spokesperson for the Institute for Missing Persons of Bosnia and Herzegovina, for the Bosnian news agency Patria.

- Our information indicated that there were eight victims of Bosniak nationality. We searched an area of 30 by 40 meters, and after additional operational checks, we will return to this site – said Čengić.

Incidentally, this location was revealed to investigators of the Institute for Missing Persons of BiH by witnesses, i.e., eyewitnesses to the crime against eight Bosniaks.

- The remains of the victims have been transferred to the Memorial Center in Tuzla, where they will remain until identification after the completion of forensic and criminal-technical processing. Bone samples will be taken, and the identity of the victims will be determined based on DNA analysis – said Čengić.
