Mine found on Skenderija plateau

During construction work on the plateau of the Skenderija Cultural and Sports Center, a 82 mm mortar mine was found this afternoon. The mine was found and reported by a worker from the construction company carrying out the works. The mine was brought by truck along with construction material (soil) used for the plateau’s renovation.

The Centar Sarajevo Police Department was informed about this at 4:40 PM by the Federal Civil Protection Administration (FUCZ). Members of the FUCZ Sarajevo A team for the removal of explosive devices immediately went to the scene.

The mine is located eight meters from the main road before the entrance to the Skenderija Center plateau.

FUCZ members will transport and store the found mortar mine during the evening and destroy it the following morning.

This is the second case of a mine being found during the renovation of the Skenderija plateau. The first was found on September 22, 20 cm below the plateau's surface. It was a 120mm mortar shell with a fuse, which was relocated and destroyed.
