Book by Academician Duraković Promoted: At Times Very Emotional, Without Losing Arguments About the Civilizational Defeat in Gaza

(Patria) - At the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the book "Palestine" by professor and academician Esad Duraković was promoted today.

It is a work containing columns and texts by academician Duraković published in several media outlets during the recent genocide in Palestine. The book represents a testimony to one of the greatest planetary tragedies of our time.

Author Esad Duraković emphasizes that the book is a collection of his columns, most of which were written when the genocide in Gaza began.



"Some texts were written somewhat earlier. This was my attempt, and it remains, of course, my attempt to articulate protest, a cry. My attempt to express my own suffering through empathy with a suffering that is, without any exaggeration, of epic proportions, without any possible comparison in our modern world.

The book is therefore, in some parts, very emotional, emotionally saturated, but arguments are never withheld, never absent. This is a book I would recommend also in the sense that its point, and I hope the public will agree, is that it testifies to the total collapse we are all witnessing. The collapse of civilization, the burial in the Middle East of humanity, international law, empathy, civilizational values of the highest order," Duraković pointed out.

He emphasizes that this is what is buried in the Middle East today, and that this is the tragedy of our modern world.

"What is worst, as far as I know, it has never happened that such a barbaric act of eradication, not only of Palestinian children and Palestinians, but even of their olive trees, their wells, is aided by the most powerful Western powers that boast of democracy, moderation, human rights, etc. This is the ultimate expression of hypocrisy.



"And that is not the end. Let me not be misunderstood, most of the media, I am not speaking about all, have cowardly betrayed their own mission and support those Western establishments that stand behind this genocide by all possible means. We have a total civilizational collapse in the Middle East, which is today experiencing a true civilizational twilight; this will not end well, and the international public should know that," Duraković concluded.

One of the promoters was also Bosnian-Herzegovinian journalist and writer Sejo Omeragić, who says this is an exceptional work by an already well-known man, who is perhaps one of the few writing about the tragedy of Palestine.

"To understand Palestine today, one must take the texts of Professor Duraković because it is something special. Above all, it is special because it has empathy for what is happening in Palestine. I think we have empathy for that terrible suffering, that incredibly awful tragedy that is happening, and those who write about it and immortalize it do not allow it to be cast into oblivion. Because, after all, we experienced a catastrophe in the 1990s. And today we are in a situation where we sympathize with the Palestinian people," says Omeragić.

He adds that what the Palestinians experienced, we also experienced.

"I wrote in my promotional speech that 750,000 of our people were expelled from their homes and went somewhere abroad, outside Bosnia and Herzegovina. You have an almost identical situation where 750,000 Palestinians left their homes in that terrible catastrophe, Nakba, as they say in Arabic. These incredible coincidences are obvious, and that is why we must have a different attitude towards Palestine. I believe it is our duty to even sympathize, and enormously so, with that people," Omeragić concluded.
