Book “Thinker and Statesman Alija Izetbegović” promoted

As part of the commemoration of March 1st, BiH Independence Day, the book “Thinker and Statesman Alija Izetbegović” by authors Fikret Muslimović and Selma Cikotić was promoted today at the Sarajevo City Hall, reports the Patria News Agency.

Recalling his acquaintance and cooperation with Izetbegović, the former Croatian president, in his role as book promoter, said that this book had to be published.
 
- Alija was a statesman, a thinker, a politician, and a believer in the true sense of the word. He was a wise man. You could never hear him act rashly anywhere; he always thought carefully about everything he expressed an opinion on - said Mesić.

In addition to Mesić, the promoters were Izetbegović's associates Hilmo Neimarlija and Mustafa Spahić, and member of the wartime Presidency of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina Mirko Pejanović.

- A politician is someone who only thinks about the next election, while a statesman is someone who thinks about the next generations. For a person like Alija Izetbegović to be a statesman, he must have intellect, spirit, talent, vision, knowledge, and ideas; he must have a system of values, wisdom, and must respect and acknowledge universal people, emphasized Spahić.

The promotion was organized by the book's publisher, JU “Alija Izetbegović Museum“.
