Book Promotion of Ilija Jurišić in Sarajevo

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - A promotion of the book "Truth to Victory" by Ilija Jurišić, who was acquitted of charges of committing a war crime in Tuzla in May 1992 by the Appellate Court in Belgrade, will be held in Sarajevo tonight.

Jurišić spent three and a half years in a Belgrade prison, and in the book, he explains what he was accused of and why the prosecutor and the first-instance court failed to prove his guilt.

- My book is a written remembrance of a sad and ugly time in the history of my life, a dark spot that I could not skip and leave all the ugly memories behind me so they would no longer hurt me. The truth is that I did not contract the virus of hatred and revenge, because otherwise, I would certainly have been a permanent victim and would have given a chance for them to continue tearing apart my soul and body - said Jurišić during his promotion in Tuzla in November 2017.

Jurišić was arrested on May 11, 2007, at Belgrade's "Nikola Tesla" Airport in front of his wife Stoja's family members, his son, daughter-in-law, and two granddaughters, and no one knew why he was being arrested.

The time he spent in custody also affected his health. Jurišić, along with his lawyer, filed a lawsuit against the state of Serbia.

The court process lasted 10 years until the final acquittal, of which Jurišić spent 3.5 years in custody.

The book promotion will be held in the hall of the Old Town Municipality starting at 6 PM.
