Changes in Management and Supervisory Boards, Government Moves to Replace Directors of Social Institutions in Canton Sarajevo

SARAJEVO, (Patria)- The Government of Canton Sarajevo at its session on April 13 dismissed and appointed acting presidents and members of supervisory and management boards of social institutions in Canton Sarajevo.  

Dismissals and appointments were made in the following public institutions: "Family Counseling Center", “Home for Children without Parental Care", “Therapeutic Community Campus of Canton Sarajevo”, "Home for Social and Health Care of Persons with Disabilities and Other Persons", "Gerontology Center", "Cantonal Center for Social Work" and "Educational Center of Canton Sarajevo".

The replacement of the director of the Gerontology Center has been discussed for several months, and as Patria previously reported, the new director should be proposed by Our Party.

Although the Government, composed of People and Justice, SDP BiH and Our Party, claimed it would work transparently, decisions of the Government of Canton Sarajevo regarding dismissals and appointments are published exclusively in the Official Gazette, which citizens cannot access. Journalists are also very often limited in obtaining information about certain appointments and dismissals. Given that these are public institutions and functions partially or fully financed with citizens' money, the Government of Canton Sarajevo should ensure that all information is publicly available equally to all citizens.
