Changes in the EP: Pak, Kacin, Svoboda and Ibrišagić leaving

The composition of the European Parliament, especially the Delegation for Southeast Europe, will be completely changed, Doris Pak, Hanes Svoboda, and Ana Ibrišagić, who did not run at all, will no longer be there, nor will Jelko Kacin, whose list in Slovenia did not receive enough votes, reports the BH news agency Patria (NAP).

According to preliminary results, Tanja Fajon is the only parliamentarian known to the BiH public who has passed into a new term.

MEPs who have worked closely on the issue of Bosnia and Herzegovina for the past almost 10 years will be replaced by new people. According to Kacin, in a statement to the Patria agency, it is clear that the composition of the delegation responsible for our region will be rejuvenated.

He confirmed that his list did not receive enough votes, and points out that the very low voter turnout in Slovenia due to the political crisis there contributed to this.

At the same time, according to him, the rise of populist parties is a warning to the European Union.

- I wouldn't say that Europe and its foundations are threatened, but these results are a warning to moderate parties. Support for populists who speak aggressively and always blame someone else has grown, thus feeding frustrations during the crisis and against the EU. Unfortunately, the public, with the support of the media, does not recognize how much the world has changed in the last few years, and that the EU is the most valuable thing we have - says Kacin.

When it comes to Bosnia and Herzegovina and other countries in the enlargement process, Kacin says that, perhaps even more importantly at this moment, new connections have been made between the countries of the region, and this at a time when three countries are fighting against the catastrophic consequences of the floods.
