Route change for the Sarajevo Cener: Race runs from Koševo Stadium to Grbavica Stadium and back

(Patria) - The eighth edition of the popular city race Imlek Protein Sarajevo Cener will be held on Sunday, June 29, 2025, starting at 8:30 PM.

This year, the race takes place on a completely new, attractive, and challenging route that connects the three largest sports symbols of the capital: Grbavica Stadium and Asim Ferhatović Hase – Koševo Stadium, as well as the Zetra Olympic Hall, where both the start and finish of the race will be located. The route change brings freshness and additional symbolism to this sports event, which year after year gathers an increasing number of recreational runners, citizens, and professional athletes. This year, a record number of participants from over 20 countries worldwide is expected.

The new route offers a unique sports postcard of Sarajevo. The start is in front of Zetra, from where runners descend along Alipašina Street to Titova Street, then continue to Marijin Dvor and enter Vilsonovo Promenade. From Vilsonovo, they descend to the floodlit Grbavica Stadium, where they make a lap inside the stadium, then return along the same route, passing by Vila Braun, and turning towards Patriotske lige Street, which leads them to Koševo Stadium. After a lap through the illuminated Koševo, they exit directly to the Zetra parking lot, where the finish line is located. The route will have an AIMS certificate, giving the Sarajevo Cener international recognition and added value for participants from the country and abroad.

“This year's Sarajevo Cener is more than a race. It is a symbolic sports journey through the most important points of the city's collective memory. Grbavica, Koševo, and Zetra are not just stadiums and a hall, but places where the most glorious sports pages of Sarajevo were written. We are happy to offer our runners a route that carries such symbolism, as well as a sports challenge,” said Elvedin Tunović, race director and executive director of the Marathon Sarajevo Association.

For all interested runners, registrations at the regular price are valid until June 20, 2025, with special benefits for group registrations of 10 or more runners. Participants can register via the official website of the Marathon Sarajevo Association. In addition to the sports dimension, the event includes an entertainment program after the race, which will be held in front of Zetra and open to all citizens.

The race organizer is the Marathon Sarajevo Association, which for nearly two decades has been promoting recreational running, a healthy lifestyle, and urban tourism through events such as the Sarajevo Half Marathon and Run Fest Sarajevo, as well as the Sarajevo Running Club. Through its activities, the association emphasizes social responsibility through humanitarian work and actively contributes to the development of sports culture and positive energy in the community.
